Celestial Seasonings is one of my favorite brands of every day tea because they’re super affordable, so you can drink multiple cups a day without emptying your pockets, and because I’ve been able to drink most of their teas without adding anything to it. This is great because I’ve been trying to keep sugar and calories down, so I can drink as much tea as I want without guilt.

Salada didn’t have much of a description for the tea except for:

A great tasting Green Tea!  Natural citrus flavors compliment the fresh tast of green tea.
Other Ingredients: Natural Lemon, Lime, and Orange Flavors with other Natural Flavors

I wanted to have an everyday tea that tastes good and is healthy for you as well. I picked up Salada’s Green Tea several months ago, and it’s become my favorite “health tea”. It’s naturally decaffeinated and contains several nutrients including Vitamins A, C, E and Siberian Ginseng. The tea has a subtle hit of citrus flavors that allows it to be drank without sugar or honey, so I suggest you try this one out!

I thought it would be kinda cool to write some short reviews on non-Teavana teas, that are both yummy and expensive, in between our big Teavana reviews.

I’m a big stressor, so I try to find a tea meant for relaxation and anxiety relief. One of my favorites is Celestial Seasoning’s Tension Tamer. It’s only a couple of dollars and it tastes wonderful!

Celestial Seasonings describes their Tension Tamer Tea as such:

“This comforting blend begins with eleuthero, an Asian herb popular for centuries because of the sense of calm and well being it imparts. We’ve added cooling peppermint, spicy ginger and tangy lemons to create a remarkably uplifting herbal blend. Bring harmony to your hectic day with a cup of this flavorful and restorative tea.”

If you’re looking for something to drink several times a day for relaxtion, I suggest you try a package of the Tension Tamer!

Before we could drink any teas, we had to had a proper teapot to brew them in. Teavana teas are loose leaf teas that can’t be brewed in a bag or tea ball. While we were in the Teavana store the clerks graciously helped us pick out our perfect teapot.

We decided to go with the ceramic pot for a compromise between affordability and quality. The color we chose was more of a robin’s egg blue than the one shown. These teapots go for $32 and include the steeper.

Pear Luna

We were first attracted to this tea thanks to its candied fruit smell. We were originally looking for a low caffeine tea meant for relaxation and stress relief. Teavana describes this tea as:

Crisp pear and fresh peach pieces with papaya, kiwi, Roman chamomile flowers and yellow rosebuds are blended with a rare white tea for a flavorful treat.

The tea has a very flowery taste, with the rose flavor being very dominent. Unfortunately, the tea does not taste as strong as its candied fruit smell and is not as full bodied as we were hoping.

A nice surprise though, is that every sip of this tea tastes different. Every once-in-a-sip seems to hit upon a strong pocket of fruity taste. The tea has a very earthy after taste, kind of like the peel from the peach and pear.

Pear Luna seems to be best for an evening or weekend relaxation tea, as the aroma is very calming. It’s a great companion while reading a book on a nice spring evening.

This tea is priced at $15 for 2 oz. (about 25-30 cups)

Pros: floral, fruity, calming

Cons: subtle taste, bland aftertaste, expensive
